I told the truth. The system punished me. So I built something it couldn’t silence.
The Contract That Broke Me (And What I Did Next)
I didn’t set out to become a whistleblower.
I just thought telling the truth was part of my job.
But in early 2025, I was fired from a federal contract after reporting a serious legal violation.
This is the story of what happened — and what I built from the ashes.
The Contract
I was the analytics lead on a multi-million-dollar government project awarded to a small business through a federal set-aside program.
On paper, everything looked legitimate.
Behind the scenes, it was something else entirely.
The company listed as “prime” was barely involved.
Nearly all the work was performed by a much larger firm that wasn’t supposed to be the primary labor source under this contract type.
That’s not a grey area.
That’s a direct violation of federal acquisition law — specifically the clause that limits subcontracting on small business set-asides.
And I had the proof.
It wasn’t a hunch. It was an engineered deception.
So I did what I thought was right: I asked some questions.
The Retaliation
First, silence.
Then, I was fired. No explanation.
When I reached out to a government point of contact to report the issue, the prime contractor retaliated by revoking my severance — punishing me for trying to protect taxpayer dollars.
"You reached out inappropriately," they said.
Inappropriately?
I followed the chain of command. I did what federal ethics rules require.
That was the moment I realized:
The system wasn’t broken.
It was protecting itself — and punishing anyone who threatens the game.
What I Saw
As I started to investigate more deeply, it became clear this wasn't an isolated issue:
- Many “small business” contract awards are effectively fronts for larger firms.
- Set-asides — meant to level the playing field — are being exploited by private equity portfolios, using shell companies and technicalities.
- Oversight actors are either overwhelmed, captured, or complicit.
- And the individuals who speak up? Retaliated against, silenced, or erased.
I wasn’t just facing a bad actor.
I was staring at a systemic pattern — quietly baked into the world of government contracting.
What I Did Next
Rather than disappear, I built.
I launched GovFraud.ai — a platform designed to detect and expose patterns of fraud in federal contracting.
It’s an AI-powered engine that:
- Analyzes procurement data
- Cross-references personnel, org charts, and past performance
- Flags labor violations and shell pass-throughs
- And gives power back to the people doing the work — not just those signing the deals
I built the tool I wish I’d had.
I made it so no one else has to walk blind into the fire like I did.
If You're In This Situation Now...
I see you.
Maybe you're on a contract that feels wrong.
Maybe you've spotted a pattern and don’t know what to do next.
Maybe you're scared of losing your job. Or your safety.
I’ve been there. You are not alone.
And you don’t need to burn your life down to do the right thing — not if you move strategically, document relentlessly, and act with precision.
DM me if you're walking this path now. Or just know:
You are not crazy.
You are seeing clearly.
The truth is dangerous — and holy.
But it will set others free once it’s seen.
Stay safe. Stay sharp. Lead with love.
